Special needs parents are experts in managing the unexpected, and they have an incredible ability to deal with unforeseen rough waters. This is truly a unique talent that they have had no choice but to develop.
Special needs parents bend, they don’t break!
I have spent the last 30+ years alongside parents of children on the spectrum, I have seen their best and worst days. I know what a difficult time this is for them and their children. If I could go to each of their houses and give them a much-deserved break, I would. I have the utmost respect and I loudly applaud them!
I will bend, my schools will bend, we will not break because too many families are counting on us to support them through this unprecedented event and to continue to be there for them when we come out of this, which I know we will! My team and I are working around the clock to find new ways to support our families through online learning. We are not sitting still, nor will we ever.
We will bend. We will not break because that’s what special needs parents do every day, and we will not let them down!
