Gersh College Experience - Post Secondary Program for students with Neurobiological Disorders

The Gersh Experience campus is located on 9.5 acres in North Tonawanda , New York . This safe, residential community is just a few miles from Buffalo and Niagara Falls , and a two hour drive to Toronto . Our facilities include a stately three story building that houses classrooms, dining facilities, a student union, computer lab and other amenities to enhance the college experience.

Career Exploration

The Gersh Career Center provides every student with the opportunity to meet regularly with a career advisor to explore postgraduate options. Each student will participate in a comprehensive career/vocational assessment early in the program to identify career choices for which he/she is well suited and which will be intrinsically rewarding. Ongoing efforts are made to find real-world opportunities such as work sites, internships and co-op experiences in areas of specific interest to each student.

Additionally, students receive one-on-one assistance with resume development, interviewing skills, workplace etiquette, communication skills and other important competencies that will facilitate student’s entry into the work world and enhance lone-term success.

Service Learning

In keeping with Daemen College's legacy of commitment to community, the students enrolled in the gersh College Experience participate in a dynamic Service Learning Program. Service Learning provides additional real-world experiences to Gersh students while benefiting the local communities of Western New York and beyond. Both students and staff from the Gersh campus volunteer to server in a variety of venues such as schools, hospitals, nursing homes, soup kitchens, churches, homeless shelters and agencies for the disabled. Working with disadvantaged, less fortunate people develops the important character traits of compassion, empathy and tolerance while promoting a sense of civic responsibility, personal empowerment and heightened self-esteem.
